NEW DELHI: Tata Communications, a digital transformation and telecommunications services company, said it is expanding internet services to the corporate sector worldwide, including in India, and that with the software-defined wide area network (SD WAN), businesses could make business-centric decisions faster. .

“We are expanding our internet services internationally, as well as in India to introduce broadband services. We are seeing more and more people using a combination of hybrid networks, i.e. broadband internet plus label switching multi-protocol (MPLS) and the adoption of SD WAN as enabling enterprises to make changes faster and monitor network performance,” said Song Toh, Vice President, Global Network Services, Tata Communications at ETTelecom.

In January 2022, the company saw over 60% growth in internet traffic on its network compared to January 2020, and since the Covid outbreak, it has delivered over 22 Tbps of capacity in various segments of the Internet network to respond to traffic surges.

“Adoption of the public cloud and secure access service edge (SASE) requires the enterprise network to be able to respond more quickly, and is also leading many enterprises to begin adopting the Internet more broadly for connectivity. business,” Toh said, adding that the company is deploying automation across its network to improve turnaround times.

The executive said that from pure MPLS to internet and broadband adoption, there is still a mixed percentage as only a few companies see acceptance. “In a way, that’s exactly what we, as a managed service provider, help our customers manage. They don’t need to hire 50 people to run a network. With our network, businesses can focus on business systems to run an agile business.”

The underlying layers of the network actually carry the traffic, and with MPLS still dominating, especially in India, businesses are transforming and embracing the internet a lot more, he said.

Tata Communications, a Tier 1 Internet Service Provider (ISP), owns more than 30% of global Internet customer routes and, together with the flagship SD WAN offering, provides agile, scalable, cloud-based Internet access services. the cloud in 35 countries.

Cloud connectivity is becoming increasingly important for businesses that are essentially reducing their data center footprint.

“We now also offer a LAN and Wi-Fi management service to meet customer expectations,” Toh added.

According to the Mumbai-based company, future-proof solutions must encompass overlay intelligence and security, underlay performance and reliability, and value-added branch connectivity like software-defined networking, SD-WAN and Wi-Fi 6.

Pervasive connectivity, according to the Tata Group company, is becoming more real as users enjoy seamless connectivity from Wi-Fi to cellular networks, and this should be optimized when rolling out fifth-generation or 5G.

The GlobalRapide service helps companies identify appropriate collaboration platforms, facilitates migration, provides enterprise-grade communications management while enabling end-to-end management of collaboration solutions.
