The following list includes recent reports from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Midland Police Department. Compiled by journalist Tereasa Nims.

9:26 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a business in Larkin Township for an unwanted person. The 45-year-old Larkin Township employee advised that a 37-year-old woman from Midland refused to leave after being asked. A deputy spoke to the 37-year-old woman who agreed to leave. No further action was requested.

7:54 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a residence in Larkin Township in reference to a barking dog complaint. Deputies were unable to contact the dog owners at the residence. The dogs were safe on the property. The appellant was referred to the township to inquire further about a violation of the township ordinance.

4:48 p.m. – A 33-year-old woman called with questions about a verbal argument with her 39-year-old fiancé.


3:43 p.m. – A 64-year-old Greendale Township woman called 911 to report a verbal argument between her and her 29-year-old roommate. The 29-year-old left before we arrived. No aggression. The complainant said the 29-year-old had not paid her rent since November 2021 and wanted her to move out. The complainant was explained the eviction and personal protection order process.

2:49 p.m. – A driver of a black truck pumped $43 worth of gas from Coleman without paying and drove off. The clerk was unable to obtain any information about the plaque.

2:37 p.m. – Deputies and Michigan State Police were dispatched to a residence in Mills Township for an 18-year-old woman with a mental health issue. Deputies and MSP took the 18-year-old into custody and transported her to Mid-Michigan Medical Center for evaluation.

12:33 p.m. – A 42-year-old man called 911 because he was disheartened by a recent breakup with his girlfriend. When the deputies arrived, he requested that they transport him to the emergency room for mental health services. He was transported to the emergency room without incident and checked in.

Sunday July 3

11:56 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a residence in Edenville Township for an illegal driving complaint. A deputy spoke to a 24-year-old woman from Midland who advised him to let a 26-year-old man from Homer Township borrow her vehicle and he refused to return it. The woman asked for help recovering the vehicle and said she did not wish to file criminal charges. The vehicle was located and returned to the woman.

11.53pm – Police were called to Ivy Lane and Rapanos Drive to a complaint about fireworks.

5:05 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a location in Jerome Township regarding a verbal argument between a 48-year-old man and his 44-year-old ex-wife. No aggression. The two parties left in separate vehicles and continued on their way. Both parties have been told how to apply for a personal protection order.

3:20 p.m. – A 58-year-old man calls to report he heard a noise upstairs in his barn. He thought maybe someone was in his barn. A deputy checked the barn and no evidence was found to suggest anyone had ever been inside his barn.

2:32 p.m. – Deputies checked on a 31-year-old man from Lincoln Township. His family were concerned due to a heated argument earlier in the day which continued via text message. The 31-year-old became so frustrated that he sent a picture of a gun holster. MPs contacted all parties. The situation was calm and everyone explained that the situation was verbal and there was no intention to cause harm. All parts remained separated during a cooling period.

10:44 a.m. – Police were called to the 6100 block of Summerset Drive for an assault.

12:01 a.m. – Deputies have been dispatched to Warren Township regarding a 24-year-old man asking for help with his 18-year-old sister who was found walking on the pavement after leaving their residence due to an argument. MPs spoke to the woman who agreed to be driven back to the residence by her 24-year-old brother. No further assistance was requested from the sheriff’s office.

Saturday July 2

11:37 p.m. – A deputy responded to a roadway in Edenville Township for a report of a deer that was injured after being hit by a vehicle. The deputy located the deer and he was eventually dispatched due to his injuries.

11:07 p.m. – A deputy responds to a neighborhood in Edenville Township for a report of a disorderly woman. The complainant, a 42-year-old woman, requested that the other woman receive a trespassing notice. The deputy located the 44-year-old woman and provided the trespassing notice.

11:02 p.m. – Deputies responded to Ingersoll Township over a traffic accident between a motorcycle and a deer. The 39-year-old driver did not have a valid driver’s license or bicycle endorsement. The motorcycle involved did not have valid insurance. The man was transported by EMS for treatment. Summonses were issued and a report was forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

9:29 p.m. – A deputy spoke to a 32-year-old man from Jasper Township about a neighborhood issue. The man asked that the incident be documented and that no further action be taken.

7.43pm – An MP spoke to a 61-year-old Midland woman and her 17-year-old daughter referred to civil questions about equestrian equipment. After conversation, the two men indicated that they would pursue the case in civil court.

4:02 p.m. – A 55-year-old man reports that an unknown person dumped a load of cut pine logs in his ditch. The man didn’t see anyone throw it, he just discovered it.

2.44pm – Deputies spoke to a 49-year-old driver who hit a letterbox as he tried to turn around. Deputies and the driver were unable to locate the stricken mailbox. Closed pending further calls.

12:53 p.m. An unknown subject pulling a boat trailer pumped $86 worth of gasoline into Edenville Township and drove off. The employee wasn’t sure if the person had used their card or not. No valid plate was obtained.

1.55pm – MPs react to an argument between a 48-year-old man and his 44-year-old ex-wife. The woman was moving again and there was a dispute over ownership. The deputies tried to arbitrate the situation. When the call ended, the woman had loaded up her van, hoping to move to Tennessee.

11.50am – MPs met with a 35-year-old woman over the split with her 42-year-old boyfriend. The woman said she called 911 because she didn’t believe he was going to let her go, but she was able to leave with all her things. She told deputies she didn’t need any help.

11:15 a.m. – Police were called to West Buttles and Ashman Roads for a traffic violation.

9.40am MPs spoke to a 44-year-old woman about the reference issues she is having with her brother and girlfriend. The woman was concerned about drug use and threats. He was provided with the appropriate means to solve his problems.

8:32 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a Larkin Township location regarding loose horses. The horses were returned to their fenced yard before the deputy arrived. It is believed that part of the fence may have been knocked down but easily fixed by the owner.

1:20 a.m. – Deputies helped an outside agency transport a 21-year-old man from Lee Township to their residence from another jurisdiction. The agency transported the man to their residence without incident. No further assistance was requested from the sheriff’s office.

12:34 a.m. – Deputies have been dispatched to Warren Township in reference to a report of a 36-year-old man finding a dog on the loose. Deputies helped the man return the dog to the owners. No further assistance was requested from the sheriff’s office.

12:10 a.m. – Deputies, MyMichigan EMS and the Midland Township Fire Department responded to a road in Midland Township for a traffic accident involving two vehicles. A 32-year-old woman from Midland Township was later arrested for operating while intoxicated. The woman was accommodated without incident. A report has been forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

friday july 1st

10:20 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a residence in Jerome Township in reference to a domestic verbal argument between a 56-year-old woman and her 56-year-old husband. The deputies spoke with both parties and were informed that the dispute was resolved before the deputies arrived. No further assistance was requested from the sheriff’s office.

4.36pm – Deputies spoke to a 47-year-old man who complained about his neighbor knocking on the wall. Deputies spoke to the 54-year-old who apologized for her grandchildren and said she would try to keep the noise down.

2:39 p.m. – Police were called to West Indian Street and Jerome Street for a property damage accident.

2:11 p.m. – A citizen found a backpack in a park in Homer Township. The backpack was later returned to the owner, a 26-year-old man from Midland City.

1:43 p.m. A 43-year-old Lincoln Township man reported to the sheriff’s office that he believed he was being followed by a private investigator. The Complainant observed the vehicle in Saginaw and then observed what he believed to be the same vehicle near his home. The suspect vehicle and/or driver never initiated contact or moved aggressively. The complainant believes the unknown driver may be a private investigator because he is a party to a workers’ compensation complaint. A report has been completed for information.

12:38 p.m. – A 48-year-old woman is found unconscious in her home. The woman indicated that she had a medical problem, but was fine. She refused medical treatment. EMS responded and authorized.

12:40 p.m. – Deputies spoke to a 19-year-old woman regarding a dispute over ownership of Edenville Township. The woman was advised that the dispute would have to go through Small Claims Court.

11:57 a.m. Edenville Township Fire, EMS and a Deputy were dispatched to a possible accident. A 59-year-old man reportedly suffered a medical episode while driving. The man managed to pull the vehicle off the road and bring it to a stop. The man was treated at the scene and taken to the emergency room for further evaluation. The vehicle was returned to the family, suffered no damage and the vehicle was towed to the owner’s residence.

10:28 a.m. – Deputies responded to an Ingersoll Township residence referring to a 17-year-old man being disorderly and damaging property. Deputies have spoken to the man’s guardian, 49, who wants a report filed for damages. Report to be sent to the prosecutor.

3:50 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a location in Lee Township for a possible bobcat spotted in the woods. Since the bobcat was in the woods and was a wild animal, no action was taken.

2:27 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a site in Warren Township regarding two horses on the roadway, causing a traffic hazard. The deputy found the owner, a 31-year-old woman, and the horses were brought back safe and sound. The woman said she would monitor the situation so that the horses do not come loose again.

1:00 a.m. – A deputy contacts a 58-year-old woman from Jerome Township who informs him that she is having problems with her internet at her residence. The deputy advised the woman to contact her internet service provider for assistance.
