EditShare provides powerful media storage and workflow facilities to Administración Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (Antel), the national telecommunications company in Uruguay. The service provides a robust and reliable remote and collaborative publishing environment for users such as leading broadcast production company REDUCTO, using Antel’s extensive high-speed Internet connectivity.
Housed in Antel’s Tier III data center is the EditShare storage system, built on EFS 450 and EFS SSD solid-state storage devices. The total capacity is currently 300 TB, and the connection between Antel’s data center and REDUCTO runs through two redundant, geographically diverse 10 gigabit fibers.
Storage is complemented by EditShare FLOW automation and media management to track content, maintain secure redundancy, and allow creative REDUCTO users to keep track of projects. FLOW also allows individual users to work according to their preferences in editing workstations and other creative tools, without impacting workflows or storage and archiving.
REDUCTO is an internationally renowned production company. At its headquarters in Montevideo, across from Antel’s data center, it has two production studios and extensive post facilities. Partnering with Antel provides scalable and flexible access to the best editing and color grading tools, giving it a powerful offering and advantage.
“Latin America is a booming region for video production, and we can provide the connectivity for producers to work with REDUCTO’s high-quality facilities from any part of the continent,” says Gustavo Andrés Arbiza Mattos, telecommunications engineer at Antel. “EditShare and its innovative storage and workflow architectures allowed us to create a compelling business case for hosting video services. The ability to support very high-speed services like uncompressed digital cinematography and Ultra HD, and good scalability both on-premises and in the cloud, means we can respond in an agile way to the growth of the market.
With Antel’s broadband connectivity, REDUCTO is now able to serve the broadcast and media market throughout Latin America from its central location. The latest additions to the EditShare environment support resolutions up to 8K, which means it can provide services for the film and event industry as well as broadcast.
Producers can be granted access to shared storage to view progress without having to travel to Uruguay. EditShare FLOW provides security functionality for protected rentals, allowing REDUCTO to host productions for multiple customers simultaneously, and over time, for Antel to offer the same hosting and connectivity service to other media customers .
“Prestigious productions require secure and flexible facilities,” says Mateo Musitelli, RC&C Project Manager at REDUCTO. “EditShare gives us native tools for remote production, fast and intuitive workflows, and the certainty that the content entrusted to us is always secure and always available. It is a key part of our plans for continued expansion as a media industry leader in the region.
